Trims and Features
The 2022 Nissan Sentra is available in three trims: S, SV, and SR. The base-level S trim features 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers to get you down the road. You also get a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, height-adjustable front seat, push-button start, four-speaker stereo system, and a 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
Moving up to the SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated outside mirrors, and rear disc brakes for better performance. You’ll also find a keyless entry, additional USB ports, an upgraded driver information display, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a six-speaker audio system, and an 8-inch touch screen. You can add the All-Weather package to get dual-zone automatic climate control, a remote engine start, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. With the SV Premium package, upgrades include a sunroof, quilted leather seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and 17-inch wheels.
On the SR, you’ll find LED headlights and fog lights, a sportier exterior design with a rear spoiler, a dark chrome grille, and 18-inch wheels. Inside, you get dual-zone climate control and a sport cloth seat trim with contrast orange stitching. You can add the SR Midnight Edition package to add black-painted exterior trim and badging and 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels for a blacked-out appearance.
With the SR Premium package, you also get upgraded LED headlights, a sunroof, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, simulated leather upholstery with orange stitching, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, and NissanConnect connectivity services with a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety Features
Nissan knows how important safety is when selecting a new vehicle, so the 2022 Sentra offers many standard and available safety and driver-assistance features to help make that happen. Standard features include an advanced airbag system with dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat-belt and occupant classification sensors. You also get seat-mounted side-impact supplemental airbags for front- and rear-seat outboard occupants, driver and front-passenger supplemental knee airbags, and a roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental airbag system with rollover sensor for front- and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection.
The Sentra features three-point automatic locking retractor seat belts for passengers and an emergency locking retractor seat belt for the driver. The seat belts also have pretensioners and load limiters. You’ll find a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system to help secure your little one’s car seat or booster. The zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones and hood buckling creases and safety spots will help the Sentra absorb a collision better, providing you with better protection inside the vehicle. The pipe-style steel side-door guard beams and energy-absorbing steering column also help reduce injuries.
Your 2022 Nissan Sentra will feature a tire pressure monitoring system with an individual tire pressure display and easy-fill tire alert to help you maintain the proper tire pressure. Low tire pressure can cause uneven wear of the tire tread, lessen your fuel efficiency, and reduce your braking power.
Driver-Assistance Technologies
Your 2022 Sentra will also feature various driver-assistance technologies to help prevent collisions. The following features are found on all three trims of the 2022 Nissan Sentra:
- Cruise control:Â Maintains a constant speed automatically.
- Intelligent forward collision warning:Â Alerts you of an impending collision and may apply the brakes in certain situations.
- Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection:Â Detects pedestrians in front of the vehicle and applies the brakes automatically to prevent crashes.
- Lane departure warning:Â Warns you when the Sentra drifts out of its lane.
- Rear automatic braking: Automatically applies the brakes if an impending collision is detected in the vehicle’s rear.
- Rear cross-traffic alert:Â Warns you of vehicles behind yours to avoid a collision.
- Blind-spot warning:Â Warns you of a vehicle in your blind spot during lane changes.
- Rearview monitor: Allows you to see what’s behind your Sentra when in reverse.
- Rear sonar system:Â Alerts you to obstacles at the rear of your Sentra.
- Vehicle dynamic control with a traction-control system:Â Maintains proper traction when driving over various road or weather conditions.
- Intelligent engine brake:Â Assists you in reducing the Sentra to your desired speed.
- Active ride control:Â Prevents your Sentra from pitching when going over bumps by lightly applying the brakes.
- Intelligent trace control:Â Detects if your Sentra is departing from the intended path.
- Hill-start assist:Â Applies the brakes temporarily when starting an incline to keep you from rolling backward.
- High-beam assist:Â Automatically switches from bright to dim headlights when it detects a vehicle ahead.
- Intelligent driver alertness:Â Alerts you of detected driver drowsiness or reduced attention.
Available features include intelligent cruise control that maintains a driver-set distance between your Sentra and the vehicle in front of you and an intelligent around-view monitor that provides a birds-eye view of your Sentra for tight parking situations.
Upcoming 2023 Nissan Sentra Safety Features
Nissan offers many features, such as rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and high-beam assist, as standard features for the 2022 Sentra. These features often cost more as options on other vehicles, or they aren’t available on the base-level trims. For that reason, we believe that Nissan will continue to offer plenty of safety and driver-assistance features on the Sentra, perhaps making all the driver-assistance technologies available on the S trim; after all, there are only two currently unavailable on that trim.
